Mohamed Salah: Egypt forward linked with Al-Ittihad move after Liverpool exit
Mohamed Salah, the Egypt international currently without a club after leaving Liverpool, has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.
The 34-year-old right winger became a free agent after his departure from Anfield on 1 July 2026, raising the prospect that any switch to Al-Ittihad could be completed as a free transfer rather than a move involving a fee.
Salah, a left-footed attacker who stands at 1.75m, built his reputation as one of Europes leading forwards during a nine-year spell in major European leagues, most notably at Liverpool following his arrival from Roma in 2017.
His market value, which peaked at 150m during his prime years at Liverpool, has gradually declined with age and was most recently estimated at 22m in June 2026, shortly before his contract with the Premier League club came to an end.
The Nagrig-born forward first moved to Europe with FC Basel in 2012 before joining Chelsea in 2014 and subsequently establishing himself in Serie A with Fiorentina and Roma, a trajectory that underpinned his later success in England.
Salahs status as a high-profile free agent and his experience at the top level of club football provide the backdrop to Al-Ittihads reported interest as Saudi Pro League clubs continue to target established international names.
No agreement has been reached and the rumour remains at an early stage, with Salah still unattached and Al-Ittihad among the clubs monitoring his situation.
