Liverpool working to make Ronald Araujo loan move from Barcelona permanent

Liverpool are seeking to complete a permanent deal for Ronald Araujo after the defender joined from Barcelona on a season-long loan at the start of the current campaign.

Football Insider reports that Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has been impressed by Araujo’s performances since his arrival and has asked the club’s hierarchy to secure the player on a permanent basis.

Liverpool are expected to open negotiations with Barcelona in the coming period as they attempt to agree a deal for the Uruguay international.

However, the transfer is not expected to be finalised until the current season is approaching its conclusion. The two clubs will therefore continue to assess the situation before deciding whether a permanent move can be completed.

Araujo has provided Iraola with defensive flexibility this season, featuring both at centre-back and right-back. His ability to operate in either position has allowed the Liverpool manager to use him in different roles within the team.

The defender has made 12 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
