Kaizer Chiefs suffer double injury blow before Golden Arrows clash

Kaizer Chiefs will be without goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and attacker Wandile Duba for their Betway Premiership meeting with Golden Arrows after both players suffered injuries.

Petersen is expected to miss four to six weeks with a knee problem, while Duba faces approximately two weeks on the sidelines with a hip and groin injury.

The injuries come before Kaizer Chiefs’ final fixture ahead of the upcoming FIFA International break this weekend.

Petersen was hurt during training on Tuesday morning and has been diagnosed with damage to the medial collateral ligament in his left knee. The club said he will now begin a rehabilitation programme.

The goalkeeper, who has played in every match since the season began in August, is the more serious of the two injury concerns.

Duba has already scored three goals this season but will also miss the match against Golden Arrows. Kaizer Chiefs said he has a minor defect in the affected area and that their medical team will assess his progress over the coming week before deciding on the next course of action.

Both players have featured prominently in Kaizer Chiefs’ strong start to the campaign, leaving the club without two regular contributors as they prepare for the weekend fixture.

“Both players have played key roles in Kaizer Chiefs’ strong start to the campaign, and their absence will be felt,” the club said in a statement.

Kaizer Chiefs added that they wished Petersen and Duba speedy recoveries and hoped to welcome them back to action soon.
