Juan Micha extends contract as Equatorial Guinea head coach
Juan Micha Obiang has officially renewed his contract as the head coach of the Nzalang Nacional, the national football team of Equatorial Guinea, for an additional two years, extending his tenure until 2026.
In a statement following the renewal, Micha emphasized his commitment to the team and the country, revealing that he made no additional demands during the contract negotiations.
Micha’s decision to renew his contract without requesting any enhancements underscores his dedication to the national team and its supporters.
“I have not asked for anything at all. I do not believe that there has been an improvement,” Micha stated, downplaying any notion of financial gain from his renewed contract.
His primary focus, he stressed, is to continue leading the team and ensuring that the nation’s football enthusiasts remain engaged and entertained.
This move is seen as a testament to Micha’s deep-rooted passion for the sport and his patriotic duty to the country.
The 49-year-old technician has been in charge of Equatorial Guinea since his initial appointment in October 2020, having graduated from his assistant coaching role between January 2015 and December 2017.
Micha has led the Nzalang Nacional to the knockout stages of the 2021 and 2023 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire respectively.
