Ivan Toney reaches six Saudi Pro League hat-tricks after starring for Al-Ahli

Ivan Toney scored his sixth Saudi Pro League hat-trick in Al-Ahli’s victory over Abha, moving level with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the competition’s list of players with the most matches featuring three or more goals.

The England striker was the standout performer in the game, finding the net three times to help Al-Ahli secure a convincing win. His latest treble further strengthened his reputation as one of the most prolific forwards in the history of the Saudi Pro League.

Toney’s goals took him to six hat-tricks in the competition, matching the totals recorded by Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo and France forward Karim Benzema. Both players have also scored three or more goals in six separate Saudi Pro League matches.

The achievement underlines the impact Toney has made since entering the competition. The Al-Ahli forward has continued to demonstrate his ability to turn attacking opportunities into goals, particularly when he is given space to operate and chances to attack the penalty area.

His performance against Abha once again placed him at the centre of the contest. By completing another hat-trick, Toney not only delivered a decisive contribution for his club but also added his name to a distinguished group of players who have regularly produced outstanding scoring displays in the Saudi top flight.

Only two players now stand above Toney in the competition’s all-time hat-trick standings.

Morocco international Abderrazak Hamdallah leads the way, having scored three or more goals in 11 different Saudi Pro League matches. Syrian striker Omar Al Somah is second on the list, with nine hat-tricks to his name.

Toney’s total of six leaves him four hat-tricks behind Al Somah and five short of Hamdallah. The gap means he remains some distance from the record, but his latest achievement has brought him level with two of the biggest names to have played in the competition.

The England forward’s progress also reflects the consistency of his goalscoring since joining the Saudi Pro League. Rather than being a one-off accomplishment, his sixth hat-trick adds to a growing record of high-scoring performances and keeps him among the leading finishers in the competition’s history.

Toney had already established himself as a forward capable of making the difference in important matches. His display against Abha provided another example of that influence, with the striker taking advantage of the opportunities that came his way and guiding Al-Ahli to a significant result.

He now has the chance to continue climbing the historical rankings in future seasons. While Hamdallah and Al Somah remain ahead, Toney’s latest treble ensures that he is firmly involved in the competition for recognition among the Saudi Pro League’s most prolific hat-trick scorers.
