Former Egypt national team coach Hossam El-Badry has voiced strong criticism of Al-Ahly’s manager Marcel Koller, following the team’s draw against Al-Ittihad of Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League.
Speaking on the program Ya Masaa Al-Anwar, El-Badry highlighted several issues he believes contributed to Al-Ahly’s performance.
Football results depend on many factors, and Al-Ahly faced bad luck against Al-Ittihad,” he remarked, noting the exceptional performance of Al-Ittihad goalkeeper Al-Mahdi Soliman and the absence of key forward Wissam Abu Ali.
El-Badry also pointed to Kahraba’s lack of match fitness as a critical issue, saying, Kahraba’s physical condition negatively affected the team’s offensive effectiveness.
He expressed concern over Koller’s approach to managing substitutions and his preparation of second-string players.
Koller is not good at preparing substitutes, and his changes have become predictable,” he said.
Furthermore, El-Badry suggested that some players, including Mohamed Magdy Afsha and Percy Tau, may be dissatisfied under Koller’s leadership.
There’s a negative atmosphere among some players due to his management,” he concluded.
The remarks come amid scrutiny of Al-Ahly’s recent performances, as fans and analysts debate the team’s tactical direction under the Swiss coach.
