Hansi Flick praise puts Abde Ezzalzouli back on Barcelona radar

Hansi Flick has spoken highly of Real Betis winger Abde Ezzalzouli, raising the possibility of renewed interest from Barcelona in the Morocco international.

Ezzalzouli has impressed during his time with the Andalusian club and recently scored against Barcelona. His performances have attracted particular attention from Flick, who made clear before the two sides met that he appreciates the 24-year-old’s qualities.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Flick is usually careful when discussing players who represent other clubs. His decision to highlight Ezzalzouli’s ability therefore underlines the impression the winger has made.

The Moroccan is valued for his speed, his ability to beat defenders and his effectiveness in attacking areas. Those qualities have made him one of the more noticeable performers in Real Betis’ side.

Barcelona retain interest in former academy player

Flick’s comments could renew speculation over a possible return to Barcelona for Ezzalzouli. The Catalan club knows the player well, having seen him come through its academy before he continued his career elsewhere.

Ezzalzouli’s name had already featured among the options considered by Barcelona during recent summer transfer windows, as the club looked for ways to strengthen its attack. Discussions and enquiries were reportedly held, although they did not lead to a completed deal.

His ability to provide penetration from wide positions would suit a team seeking greater threat on the wings. Ezzalzouli is capable of taking on opponents in one-on-one situations and making a difference in the final third, the same attributes praised by Flick.

However, the manager’s positive assessment does not in itself confirm that Barcelona intend to sign him. There is currently no agreement or confirmed plan for the player to return to the club.

Ezzalzouli valued at 40m euros

The winger’s displays for Real Betis have also increased his standing in the transfer market. His current value is estimated at 40m euros, reflecting the growing interest in his development.

Any attempt to bring him back to Barcelona would represent a significant investment for a club still required to balance its financial restrictions with its sporting priorities. Should interest become concrete, negotiations would depend on Real Betis’ demands and Barcelona’s transfer strategy.

Barcelona does retain an important advantage, having kept 20% of the rights to a future sale of Ezzalzouli. That clause could allow the club to receive part of any eventual transfer fee, although the amount recovered would depend on the precise contractual conditions.

For now, Ezzalzouli’s performances in Andalusia and Flick’s admiration are the main factors linking him with a possible return to Catalonia. Whether that interest develops into formal action remains uncertain, but his progress continues to strengthen his reputation and could also benefit Barcelona through its share of a future resale.
