Hakimi and Onana lead African stars in Europe’s Halloween weekend XI

Achraf Hakimi and Andre Onana headline the African team of the weekend after standout performances across Europe between 30 October and 1 November 2026. The selection is based on ratings supplied by partner Sportmonks.

Hakimi was the outstanding performer after playing a part in all five of Paris Saint-Germain’s goals against Le Havre. The Morocco full-back scored a hat-trick and provided two assists in a 5-1 victory, producing five attacking contributions – a record for a defender, although that claim is contested.

Onana was again central to Trabzonspor’s success, making six saves and recovering eight balls in a 2-0 win over Gaziantep. The Cameroon international, who is banned from the national team, recorded his sixth clean sheet in 12 matches this season.

His Trabzonspor team-mate Chidozie Nwaiwu also made the XI. The Nigeria defender recovered nine balls and completed five clearances. The Turkish side have a third representative in Cape Verde international Sidny Lopes Cabral, who also played an important role in a victory that keeps Trabzonspor third in the Super Lig.

Ligue 1 supplies four players to the selection, including Hakimi, after a weekend of high-scoring matches.

Elye Wahi scored three times and set up another goal as OGC Nice beat Rennes 5-2. Paris FC striker Lassine Sinayoko also impressed, scoring twice in the first half against Monaco before being involved in the move for his side’s third goal in a 3-1 win. The Franco-Malian’s latest display extends an excellent run of form and leaves him as Ligue 1’s leading scorer with eight goals.

Gessime Yassine completes the Ligue 1 contingent. The Morocco international scored twice and supplied an assist in Strasbourg’s emphatic 5-1 victory over Auxerre.

Ibrahim Maza was another player who could have been considered after scoring again for Bayer Leverkusen against Stuttgart in a 4-2 defeat. Opponent Deniz Undav praised the Algeria international, but Maza’s rating of 7.67 was below those of the three midfielders selected. Morocco’s Bilal El Khannouss, who also scored in the match, was similarly left out despite a rating of 7.69.

The midfield is led by Senegal’s Mouhamed Diop, who was influential throughout Troyes’ 2-0 win over Le Mans, scoring once and creating two chances. Algeria’s Ramiz Zerrouki also scored, converting a penalty, and supplied two key passes as Twente thrashed Excelsior 9-0.

Nigeria’s Tunde Akinsola completes the midfield after scoring twice for Cercle Bruges in their 2-1 victory against Antwerp.

The defence is completed by Evan Ndicka. The Ivory Coast defender scored in AS Roma’s 5-2 win over Udinese and completed 96% of his passes.
