Rennes midfielder Glen Kamara has completed a loan move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab, the clubs confirmed.
The Finland international departs just six months after arriving in Brittany, following a difficult spell where he managed only 13 appearances.
Kamara (29), who joined Rennes from Leeds last summer, saw his playing time diminish and was left out of Jorge Sampaoli’s training squad after the club’s Coupe de France humiliation against Troyes. His temporary switch to Al-Shabab includes an option for a permanent deal, offering him a fresh start in Riyadh.
Before securing his Saudi move, Kamara attracted interest from English sides Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Middlesbrough, all keen to bring him back to the Championship. Rennes, meanwhile, have now lost both Kamara and Baptiste Santamaria on loan and are expected to accelerate their search for reinforcements in midfield. Hellas Verona’s Reda Belahyane has emerged as a potential target for the Ligue 1 side as they look to reshape their squad.
