Cheikh Babou seals Ligue 1 return with free move to Ouakam
Senegal goalkeeper Cheikh Babou has joined Ouakam from Guediawaye FC on a free transfer, completing his move back to the Ligue 1 club on 3 September 2026.
The 25-year-old has signed a contract with Ouakam that runs until 30 June 2027. He returns to a club he previously represented after spending the 2025-26 season moving through Senegalese football, first leaving Pikine for Guelwaars before switching to Guediawaye FC in February 2026.
Babou’s latest transfer keeps him in Ligue 1, with both Ouakam and Guediawaye FC competing in Senegal’s top flight. His arrival gives Ouakam an experienced goalkeeper who has already played for the club earlier in his career.
The Dakar-born player first joined Ouakam from Oslo FA on 1 July 2023. He remained there until February 2024, when he moved to Pikine, beginning a sequence of free transfers that later took him to Guelwaars and Guediawaye FC.
Babou stands 1.85 metres tall and is predominantly right-footed. His return to Ouakam marks the latest stage of a career spent entirely within Senegalese club football, with each of his recorded moves completed without a transfer fee.
He now begins a second spell with Ouakam under a contract lasting through the end of June 2027.
