Football icon Abedi Ayew Pele has advised the Ghana Football Association to get its house together in order to regain the country’s lost football glory.
The three-time African Footballer of the Year made these remarks after Ghana failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 21 years.
The four-time champions failed to win a single game during the qualifying series, marking the first time this has happened, essentially ruling them out of the main tournament, which is set to take place in Morocco next year.
The one-time AFCON winner called on the country’s football authorities to work hard and unite the football family.
“What it takes to be a great football team or a great football nation is to work hard and put your house into order to make sure that you get results,” he told Accra-based Max TV.
“That is all that it takes to be a good team all over the world.”
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is set to meet the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association on Wednesday to discuss his technical report from the disappointing 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
The Council is expected to make a decision on his future after failing to reach a conclusive decision last week.
