Rulani Mokwena named Egypt’s Best Coach for August

South African coach Rulani Mokwena has been named the Professional Players Association of Egypt’s Best Coach for August following an impressive start to the new season.

Mokwena was recognised after guiding his side to a perfect record during the month, winning all four of their matches.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach oversaw four victories from four games, collecting the maximum 12 points while his team scored seven goals and did not concede.

The unbeaten run, coupled with the defensive solidity of his side, earned Mokwena the monthly award from the Professional Players Association of Egypt.

Mokwena has quickly established himself as one of the notable South African coaching figures working outside the country, having previously enjoyed a successful spell at Sundowns before moving to Egypt.

His tactical approach and emphasis on organisation have been evident in the team’s early-season performances, with the four-match winning run providing a strong platform for the campaign.

The seven goals scored across the four matches also highlight the team’s efficiency in attack, while keeping four consecutive clean sheets underlines the defensive discipline achieved during August.

Mokwena’s recognition comes as he continues his coaching career in Egyptian football, where expectations are high given the country’s competitive domestic league.

The award adds another individual honour to his coaching career and provides further recognition for the work he has done since taking charge in Egypt.

With 12 points secured from a possible 12 in August, Mokwena will now look to maintain that momentum as the season progresses.
