Fermin Lopez urges Barcelona fans to trust team after Real Madrid defeat

Fermin Lopez has called on Barcelona supporters to remain confident after their 2-1 defeat by Real Madrid, insisting that “everything will change and return to normal”.

Real Madrid secured victory in the 10th round of La Liga at Camp Nou, ending Barcelona’s run of nine consecutive league wins.

Lopez sent a message to the club’s supporters in comments carried by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.

“Today, more than ever, long live Barcelona. Believe in this team, supporters,” the Barcelona midfielder said.

“There is still a long way to go and everything will change and return to normal.”

The defeat was Barcelona’s second of the season and their second in succession. They had lost 4-2 to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League several days earlier.

Real Madrid had waited since the 2023-2024 season to beat Barcelona at Camp Nou. Their previous victory there came in October 2023, when they also won 2-1.

The latest result moved Real Madrid to 24 points in third place, one point behind second-placed Atletico de Madrid.

Barcelona remain top of the table on 27 points.
