Pyramids FC will win Egyptian League title this season – Assistant coach Moatasem Salem
Pyramids FC assistant coach Moatasem Salem is confident his side will win the Egyptian Premier League title this season after narrowly missing out on the crown in the previous two campaigns.
Salem believes the club have the quality, depth and determination to finally secure the domestic championship following consecutive disappointments in the title race.
Speaking on Mega FM radio, the Pyramids assistant coach expressed satisfaction with the team’s start to the campaign and hopes they can maintain their momentum in the coming weeks.
“The start is successful and I hope it continues. Pyramids has been a strong competitor for all championships in previous years, not just this season,” Salem said.
He attributed the team’s strength to the quality of players at their disposal, insisting that their ability makes it easier for the technical staff to implement its tactical ideas.
“The quality of Pyramids’ players helps any coach succeed. Mokoena is a technically distinguished coach, but the players help him implement his coaching ideas,” he added.
Salem also explained that the club’s recruitment strategy focuses on addressing specific needs within the squad, rather than bringing in players without a clear purpose.
However, Pyramids have suffered an injury setback, with Nadhir Bou Ali reportedly dealing with a muscle strain that could keep him out for up to two weeks.
Salem also praised Muhannad Lashin, describing the midfielder as the backbone of the team and highlighting his professionalism, commitment and attention to detail.
The assistant coach’s confidence comes after Pyramids fell just short in their last two attempts to win the Egyptian Premier League. They missed out on the title by a single point last season and by three points in the campaign before that.
Those narrow defeats have strengthened Salem’s belief that the club can finally go one step further this season.
“I had hope before the league started that the league would be ours. Last year we lost the league by a point difference, and the season before last we lost by three points,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Pyramids have also made progress in continental competition, securing qualification for the CAF Champions League group stage with a 4-0 victory over Sudanese side Al-Merreikh Bentiu in the second preliminary round.
The Egyptian outfit will now seek to build on that achievement while maintaining their push for domestic honours.
With a talented squad and the disappointment of narrowly missing out on the league title in consecutive seasons, Salem is convinced that Pyramids have what it takes to claim the Egyptian crown this time around.
