Sofyan Amrabat’s anticipated move to Fenerbahçe is under threat as Premier League club Everton has made a last-minute attempt to secure the Moroccan midfielder’s signature.

The 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Manchester United from Fiorentina, had been hoping for a permanent deal with the English giants.

However, with that prospect fading, Fenerbahçe stepped in with a loan offer reportedly worth €2 million, including a mandatory purchase option of €12 million, which seemed to have sealed the deal.

But just as the Turkish club appeared to be closing in, Everton has emerged as a serious contender for Amrabat’s services.

The news was first reported by renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who shared the development on his social media account. According to Romano, Everton’s interest in Amrabat has added a new twist to what seemed like a done deal for Fenerbahçe.

While Everton may not have the allure of Manchester United, the Merseyside club offers its own set of attractions.

Despite a rocky start to the current season, with two losses from their opening two matches, and a disappointing 15th-place finish last season, Everton has a rich history in the Premier League.

The Toffees have consistently competed in the top tier since the league’s inception in 1992-93 and have regularly finished in the top 10, although they have struggled to do so in recent years.

For Amrabat, a move to Everton would allow him to continue competing at the highest level in the Premier League, a league he is already familiar with from his time at Manchester United.

The 28-year-old has earned 57 caps for Morocco and has built a reputation as a tenacious midfielder, capable of influencing games both defensively and in attack.

The question now is whether Everton, under the management of Sean Dyche, can outmaneuver Fenerbahçe in the race for Amrabat.

The Turkish club still holds the advantage, having already made a formal offer that Fiorentina seems willing to accept.

However, Everton’s late interest could force the Italian side to reconsider their options, especially if the Premier League club presents a more lucrative deal.

As the transfer window draws to a close, the saga surrounding Sofyan Amrabat’s next move continues to unfold, with Everton and Fenerbahçe both vying for the midfielder’s signature.

Whether he ends up in Istanbul or returns to the Premier League remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Amrabat’s future will be decided soon.
