The 2026/27 Premier Soccer League season is not yet halfway through, but eight clubs have already changed their coaching arrangements, with Richards Bay dismissing Dimitar Pantev for the second time this campaign.
The Bulgarian’s departure, confirmed by Soccer Laduma, makes Richards Bay the latest PSL club to restructure its technical team.
Sekhukhune make the first change
Sekhukhune United were the first side to act, parting company with Cedric Kaze in early September.
The Burundian had overseen seven matches in all competitions, recording three wins and four defeats. He was replaced by Papi Zothwane.
Lehlohonolo Seema was also removed from his position at Siwelele in September, along with assistant coach Willem Jackson, after a difficult start to the season.
Seema remains with the club as head coach of the reserve team, while Jackson has left. Godfrey Mosoetsa was appointed to lead the first team until the end of the season.
Marumo Gallants turn to Kanalelo
Marumo Gallants announced the departure of Mohafe on 9 September, despite the coach arriving with a strong reputation following his work at Polokwane City over several seasons.
Namibian coach Ronnie Kanalelo was brought in to take over from him.
Ronnie Gabriel’s time at Natal Rich Boyz ended on 17 September after a run of three draws and three defeats without a victory. He was later replaced by Pantev.
“The club expresses its sincere appreciation to coach Ronnie Gabriel for his dedication, professionalism, and contribution during his tenure for the past seasons with the club as our technical team member and wishes him every success in his future endeavors,” the club said.
Khalil Ben Youssef then became the latest coaching casualty at Durban City. The Tunisian had joined the KwaZulu-Natal club only three months earlier and was subsequently replaced by Eric Tinkler.
Parker and Dladla depart
TS Galaxy and Bernard Parker parted ways in October as the changes continued across the PSL.
The Mpumalanga club, known as the Rockets, are expected to appoint Bosnian coach Admir Adzem, who holds a UEFA Pro Licence, provided the process goes according to plan.
Golden Arrows also ended their association with Pitso Dladla. Abafana Bes’thende have already appointed Mandla Ncikazi, who has been tasked with stabilising the team.
Moloto steps down on health grounds
Willy Moloto had to leave his position at Polokwane City because of health problems, with assistant coach Mkhuseli Sentane taking charge on an interim basis.
Moloto struggled during his spell in charge and collapsed during a match against AmaZulu in September. He subsequently took 10 days of sick leave but did not return to the role.
Pantev’s spell at Richards Bay was also brief. He managed three matches, all of which ended in defeat, placing him under pressure before the club decided to dismiss him.
The KwaZulu-Natal side are now searching for a new coach following his departure.
