Arnaud Kalimuendo could return to Germany after struggling at Nottingham Forest

Eintracht Frankfurt are exploring the possibility of re-signing Arnaud Kalimuendo from Nottingham Forest during the January 2027 transfer window as the striker struggles for regular playing time in England.

The German club are keen to bring the 24-year-old French-Congolese forward back to the Bundesliga after his limited involvement at Nottingham Forest this season.

According to French newspaper L’Équipe, Frankfurt have started working on a potential deal ahead of the winter transfer window, with sporting director Timmo Hardung reportedly leading efforts to secure the striker’s return.

A loan arrangement is being considered by the two clubs, with the possibility of another temporary spell in Germany appearing attractive to Kalimuendo.

The forward is understood to be keen on the move as he looks to secure more playing opportunities and get his career back on track after struggling to establish himself in England.

Since the beginning of the 2026-27 campaign, Kalimuendo has featured in only five matches across all competitions for Nottingham Forest. His limited involvement has made it difficult for him to establish a regular place in the club’s attacking setup.

His situation has reportedly encouraged Frankfurt to consider bringing him back, particularly given the positive impression he left during his previous spell with the Bundesliga side.

Kalimuendo impressed during previous Frankfurt spell

Kalimuendo spent the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he enjoyed a productive spell in Germany.

The striker made 19 appearances during his time at the club, scoring six goals and providing one assist.

His performances were considered encouraging, and Frankfurt are now looking at the possibility of reuniting with him to strengthen their attacking options for the second half of the season.

A return to Germany could also offer the forward an opportunity to regain the form and confidence that made him an important attacking option during his previous spell.

Kalimuendo joined Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2025 and signed a contract that runs until June 30, 2030.

Despite having several years remaining on his deal with the Premier League club, his lack of regular playing time has placed his immediate future under consideration.

Frankfurt’s reported interest could provide a solution for all parties, particularly if an agreement over another loan can be reached ahead of the January transfer window.

For Kalimuendo, a return to familiar surroundings in Germany could be an opportunity to rediscover his best form, while Frankfurt would be bringing back a forward who already has experience of playing for the club.
