Esperance Tunis dismisses head coach Miguel Cardoso, names Iskandar Al-Qasri as interim manager
The decision to terminate Cardoso’s contract follows a recent disappointing performance, marking the end of his tenure with the Tunisian giants.
In a statement shared on the club’s official Facebook page, the Esperance management announced that the decision to release Cardoso was made by mutual agreement.
The club thanked him for his contributions but felt that a change was necessary to improve the team’s performance going forward.
Iskandar Al-Qasri has been appointed as interim head coach and will take charge of the team on a temporary basis.
The club indicated that Al-Qasri would lead the team until a new permanent head coach is selected.
He is expected to begin his duties immediately, overseeing training sessions starting today.
In a related development, Algerian international Youssef Belaili will commence working with Al-Qasri from the upcoming training session, marking a fresh chapter for the forward under new management.
Belaili’s collaboration with the interim coach is seen as crucial to revitalizing the team’s offensive strategy in upcoming matches.
The coaching change comes in the wake of Esperance Tunis’s disappointing 1-0 defeat against Esperance Zarzis on Sunday, a result that pushed the club to make swift adjustments.
The loss in the fifth round of the Tunisian league underscored concerns about the team’s performance, ultimately leading to Cardoso’s departure.
As Esperance seeks to regain its footing in the league, the appointment of an interim coach signals a period of transition and reflection.
The club’s supporters will be keen to see how Al-Qasri manages the team in the coming weeks, hoping for a swift turnaround in form.
