Lyon centre-forward Enzo Molebe has completed a loan move to Montpellier, joining the Ligue 2 club from the Ligue 1 side on a temporary deal. The 18-year-old will be registered with Montpellier from 2026-02-02 until 2026-06-30, when he is scheduled to return to Lyon at the end of the loan.
The deal is officially recorded as a loan transfer, with Molebe moving from Olympique Lyon to Montpellier HSC while remaining under contract with the Lyon first team. At the time of the move, his market value is listed at €200k, underlining his status as a developing prospect rather than a finished product. Once the loan expires on 2026-06-30, he is set to go back to Lyon, though that return could also open the door to further moves or a reassessment of his long-term future.
Molebe, a centre-forward who prefers to operate through the middle of the attack, brings dual nationality to Montpellier, being listed as both French and DR Congolese. Born in Décines-Charpieu and right-footed, he has been shaped almost entirely within the Lyon system, progressing methodically through its youth structure before breaking into the senior setup.
His pathway has been linear but rapid. After early spells with Paris FC Youth and AC Boulogne-Billancourt Youth, he joined Olympique Lyon Youth in 2020. From there he advanced to Lyon U17, then to Lyon U19, and subsequently to Lyon B, before being formally promoted to the Olympique Lyon first team. Each step came via internal, standard transfers within the club, reflecting a structured development plan and sustained belief in his potential.
Market value data illustrates how his reputation has been building. As a 17-year-old at Lyon B, Molebe was valued at €100k in late 2024 and again in mid-2025. By December 2025, now attached to Lyon’s senior squad, that figure had doubled to €200k. The loan to Montpellier therefore arrives at a moment when his stock is rising and regular senior minutes in Ligue 2 could be pivotal.
This move also shifts his competitive context. Although he remains in France, Molebe steps away from Lyon’s Ligue 1 environment into Montpellier’s Ligue 2 campaign, where the physical and tactical demands can differ markedly. It places him in a league often used as a proving ground for young forwards, offering the chance to adapt to senior football in a slightly less intense spotlight than at Lyon.
Montpellier, for their part, secure a young attacking option without a permanent outlay, while Lyon retain control of his long-term rights and can monitor his progress closely. With the loan set between 2026-02-02 and 2026-06-30, the coming months will be crucial in determining whether Molebe returns to Lyon ready to claim a more significant role or whether further loans or a future transfer become the next steps in his career trajectory.
