Turkish side Beşiktaş have made an offer to sign Egypt captain Mohamed Salah after the forward ended his nine-year spell at Liverpool.

The 33-year-old has attracted interest from clubs across the world since leaving Anfield, with Beşiktaş now emerging as one of the latest teams hoping to secure the services of one of Africa’s greatest footballers.

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claimed negotiations have already begun between the parties.

“Beşiktaş has made its first offer to Mohamed Salah. In the initial meeting, Salah, who demanded an annual salary of 15 million euros, lowered his salary expectations to join Besiktas. The player’s lawyer has arrived in Istanbul.”

Saudi move faces uncertainty

Salah had widely been expected to continue his career in the Saudi Pro League following his Liverpool exit.

However, Turkish media reports suggest the former Liverpool star is reluctant to make the move to Saudi Arabia, with his family reportedly favouring a switch to Istanbul instead.

Beşiktaş are looking to bolster their attacking options as they seek to compete with Turkish rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, identifying Salah as the marquee signing capable of transforming their frontline.

Salah leaves Liverpool as a club legend

The Egyptian forward departs Liverpool after an extraordinary nine-year spell in which he established himself among the club’s greatest-ever players.

He scored 257 goals and provided 120 assists in 442 appearances for the Reds, a remarkable return that highlights the quality Beşiktaş hope to add to their squad.

Salah also enjoyed another memorable campaign with Egypt, helping the Pharaohs reach the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Egypt defeated Australia on penalties before exiting the tournament following a thrilling 3-2 defeat to eventual finalists Argentina.
