Mohamed Alaa joins Ceramica Cleopatra

Egypt international goalkeeper Mohamed Alaa has confirmed his transfer from El Gouna to Egyptian Premier League side Ceramica Cleopatra during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The shot-stopper revealed that the move has been officially completed, marking a new chapter in his career after his involvement with the Pharaohs’ squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in an interview on ON Sport, Mohamed Alaa said: “My transfer from El Gouna to Ceramica has been officially completed.”

The goalkeeper also expressed gratitude to his family and wife for their support throughout his career.

“I thank my family, they have always been behind me, and my wife has always supported me,” he added.

Alaa was part of the Egyptian national team squad that impressed at the 2026 World Cup, where the Pharaohs finished second in Group G with five points, level with Belgium.

Egypt advanced to the Round of 32, where they secured a victory over Australia before suffering a 3-2 defeat to defending champions Argentina in the Round of 16 in a highly controversial encounter that sparked debate over the officiating.

The goalkeeper also shared an emotional moment from his national team journey, revealing that he suffered a personal loss shortly before joining the World Cup camp.

“My grandfather passed away the day before the camp, and he was always a support to me. I attended his funeral, and after that I joined the national team camp,” he said.

Despite being included in Egypt’s World Cup squad, Mohamed Alaa did not make an appearance for the Pharaohs during the tournament. His move to Ceramica Cleopatra now gives him an opportunity to continue his development and compete for regular playing time at club level.
