Dortmund now have 17 points, putting them three clear of second-placed Bayern Munich. Bayern have played one match fewer and visit Freiburg on Sunday.

Mainz reduced the deficit before Ludovit Reis restored Bremen’s two-goal advantage. The hosts scored again, but Werder held on to claim all three points.
Fuellkrug’s double took his league total for the season to eight. He remains the Bundesliga’s leading scorer and has scored in each of his past six league appearances.

Philippe is on loan at Paderborn from Hamburg and came off the bench against his parent club. He did not celebrate after scoring, despite the importance of the goal to his side.
