Demba Ba joins Le Havre as sporting director

Le Havre has secured Mathieu Bodmer’s successor, and Demba Ba is no name from nowhere.

According to L’Equipe, the former Chelsea striker agreed with the Norman club to become the new sporting director in the coming days, after serving as football director at Dunkerque.

Ba arrives with trusted men. Quentin Rauzier (Paris FC) takes the sports coordinator position while Romain Decool becomes recruitment manager. This trio already worked at USL Dunkerque where they built a solid Ligue 2 project with limited resources.

The arrival confirms Le Havre’s ambition to elevate. Blue Crow Sports Group, owning over 95% of the club, injected €18 million in capital increase with guarantees to secure DNCG approval. President Jean-Michel Roussier assured: “I know one thing, the guarantees needed to pass DNCG more serenely than last season, Blue Crow will provide them. That’s factual”.

Blue Crow confirmed its long-term engagement to structure, develop, and financially strengthen Le Havre Athletic Club, investing in facilities and mercato means. At Dunkerque, Ba was described as “the architect” of the northern project, structuring around a tight recruitment cell with targeted profiles.

Blue Crow now hands Ba the keys to Le Havre’s mercato, with objective: permanently install HAC in Ligue 1 while maintaining the club’s youth development DNA. Supporters understand: with Demba Ba, Le Havre wants to impose its project, not just survive.
