Dastan Satpaev set for Burnley loan move days after Chelsea contract

Dastan Satpaev is close to joining Burnley on loan from Chelsea, just days after signing a long-term contract with the Blues.

The Kazakhstan international winger has travelled to Burnley’s Turf Moor ground and is expected to undergo a routine medical before the club’s Championship meeting with West Ham on Sunday, according to BBC Sport.

Satpaev signed a six-season deal with Chelsea on Wednesday, the day he turned 18. The agreement also includes an option to extend the contract by a further year.

His move to Stamford Bridge had already been agreed in January 2025, when Chelsea reached an agreement to sign him from Kazakhstan club Kairat for a reported fee of £3.4m.

The teenager is now in line for an immediate temporary move to Burnley as Chelsea continue to arrange loan opportunities for a number of their young players. The proposed switch would give Satpaev the chance to gain experience in English football and compete for regular first-team involvement.

Chelsea have been active in sending academy and emerging players out on loan this week. Ryan Kavuma-McQueen has joined Portsmouth, while Reggie Walsh has moved to Wigan Athletic.

Shim Mheuka is also nearing a temporary departure from Chelsea as the club looks to provide its young players with more opportunities to play regularly and develop away from Stamford Bridge.

Satpaev’s potential move to Burnley comes immediately after his formal arrival at Chelsea. He joined the London club from Kairat under the terms of the agreement made earlier this year, with the £3.4m fee reflecting the club’s interest in one of Kazakhstan’s promising young players.

The forward has not yet completed the move to Burnley, with the medical still to take place. If that process is completed successfully, he would begin the next stage of his development at Turf Moor while remaining a Chelsea player under the long-term contract signed this week.

Burnley’s upcoming fixture against West Ham on Sunday provides the immediate backdrop to the proposed loan. Satpaev travelled to the club’s home ground ahead of the medical, with the Championship side now close to securing his services on a temporary basis.

The move forms part of Chelsea’s wider approach to developing young talent through first-team football elsewhere. Satpaev’s six-year contract, together with the additional one-year option, underlines the club’s long-term commitment to him, while a loan to Burnley would offer the 18-year-old the opportunity to gain experience at senior level.
