Reports suggest that fans of Saudi club Al-Ittihad Jeddah have demanded the departure of Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo due to the team’s recent poor results.
According to Saudi Sports, a website specializing in Saudi football news, Al-Ittihad fans expressed their severe displeasure on social media platforms, calling for Marcelo Gallardo’s departure, especially after the team’s heavy defeat against Abha yesterday, with a scoreline of 3-1, in the 30th round of the Saudi League.
Al-Ittihad’s Position in the Saudi League Table Al-Ittihad, which boasts Egyptian star Ahmed Hegazi in its ranks, currently occupies fifth place in the Saudi League table with 50 points, trailing league leaders Al-Hilal by 33 points, who sit comfortably at the top with 83 points.
Mahrez Persuades City Defender to Join Al-Ahly
Meanwhile, English newspaper The Sun reports that Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, who currently plays for Al-Ahly Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, has successfully convinced his former Manchester City teammate to move to the Saudi League during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The newspaper states that Kyle Walker is now close to agreeing to the move to the Saudi league, especially after his wife also approved the idea. The substantial financial offer received by the English star is cited as the main reason for his potential transfer to Al-Ahly Jeddah in the near future.
