Bukayo Saka keeps focus as Arsenal eye historic Champions League triumph

Fresh from Premier League title celebrations, Arsenal head into the Champions League final with belief, unity and a clear sense of purpose, as Bukayo Saka insists the squad does not need external narratives to fuel their ambition.

Alongside captain Martin Odegaard, the forward outlined a dressing room focused on history rather than pressure, with memories of last year’s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain firmly parked in the past.

Arsenal’s rise under Mikel Arteta has brought them to the edge of European football’s biggest prize, and Saka’s message was one of calm conviction rather than emotional response.

The winger stressed that motivation is already embedded within the group, dismissing the need for revenge-driven thinking as they prepare for another defining night on the continental stage.

Saka blocks out pressure as belief drives Arsenal

For Saka, the focus is not on correcting past disappointments but on the opportunity to etch his name into the club’s history books.

The Hale End graduate, who has become one of Arsenal’s defining figures, spoke with a sense of perspective shaped by his long journey through the club’s academy system.

“I think we have enough fire going into the game tomorrow. We can write history, that alone for us is enough of a motivation for us,” he said.

“I don’t think about pressure too much. I just try to enjoy it and leave the rest in God’s hands,” he added.

His connection to Arsenal runs deep, and he acknowledged the emotional weight of potentially delivering European success to supporters who have followed his development from childhood.

“We all know where my journey started, at seven at Hale End. I’m very excited about the opportunity to win another trophy and create history for the club that I love. I know exactly what this triumph would mean for the fans. I’ve been on this journey, loving this club, seeing the ups and downs. We felt what it meant for them after winning the Premier League,” Saka stated

“We’re very excited, but trying to stay focused, it’s a great opportunity.”

He also highlighted the unity within the squad as a defining strength ahead of the final.

“We’re a tight-knit team, fighting for each other on and off the pitch” and will do all they can to write another chapter in Arsenal’s history,” the winger promised.

Reflecting on the broader project under Mikel Arteta, he added:

“Mikel made it clear, his mission was to bring Arsenal back to the level where it belongs, challenging for the biggest trophies. I’m proud to say we’ve made it here,” Saka added.

Odegaard embraces momentum and rejects doubt

Captain Odegaard underlined the significance of Arsenal’s Premier League triumph, describing it as both a reward and a foundation for what comes next.

“It felt amazing. All we’ve been through to get to that moment makes it feel so good. It’s gonna be there forever for all of us. The energy we take from that, going into this game, is great. We’re ready to go again,” the Norwegian said.

He also dismissed any lingering scepticism surrounding Arsenal’s ability to deliver on the biggest stage.

“The outside noise of people saying we can’t do it is gone now. The mindset is still the same, we want to come here and win tomorrow.

“It’s something special that we can achieve, hasn’t been done before. We want to make even more history,” he added.

Gyokeres adds fresh edge to Arsenal’s attack

Odegaard also praised new arrival Viktor Gyokeres, who has quickly become a key figure in the squad’s attacking structure, highlighting both his work rate and influence in decisive moments.

“He’s been brilliant since he came in, scored some big goals. The attention he takes on the pitch leaves a lot for the rest of us. He works so hard, leaves everything on the pitch. Special player, and already won a trophy in his first season, that’s pretty good,” he said.

“We’ve shown our quality for a very long time, winning probably the toughest league to win in the world, that gives us confidence. We are playing a great team, but our main focus is on us and what we can control,” Odegaard concluded.
