Ben Romdhane helps Al Shamal beat Al Hilal in Asian Champions League

Al Shamal secured their first Asian Champions League victory by beating Al Hilal 3-1 in the third round of the group stage.

The Qatari side moved to five points and sixth place in the standings, while Al Hilal remain on six points in fifth.

Wesley, Baghdad Bounedjah and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane scored for Al Shamal, with Salem Al-Dawsari netting Al Hilal’s only goal.

Ben Romdhane said the result was a significant achievement after Al Shamal had failed to win either of their opening two matches.

“We played two good matches in the first two rounds, but we were unable to win before securing our first victory in the competition against Al Hilal,” the Tunisia midfielder told Al Kass channels.

“We were more realistic and managed to score three goals. I believe the team will improve further in the coming matches.

“We prepared well for the game. When you face a big team such as Al Hilal, you find spaces on the pitch, and we have players who are capable of dealing with these types of matches.”
