Barcelona punished after objects thrown from stands during El Clasico

Barcelona have been sanctioned by the Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation after objects were thrown from the stands during Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou.

The case was opened after several items were directed towards the pitch in the 87th minute, as Real Madrid players celebrated Kylian Mbappe’s second goal of the match.

According to the report by Spanish newspaper Marca, the committee applied Article 117 of the disciplinary regulations. The provision covers minor offences involving a failure to maintain order during matches and allows for a fine of up to 602 euros.

The committee has not disclosed the final amount Barcelona will have to pay.

Referee stopped play after objects were thrown

The incident took place in the northern section of the stadium. Referee Martinez Munuera recorded that the objects included a bottle of water and another bottle containing carbonated water.

Although none of the items struck any players, the incident was included in the referee’s official match report and referred to the Disciplinary Committee for consideration.

Play was temporarily halted while a warning was issued over the stadium’s public-address system. Supporters were told not to repeat such behaviour before the match resumed.

The committee subsequently classified the incident as a minor breach under Article 117. That classification sets 602 euros as the maximum possible penalty, although the decision does not state the precise sum imposed on Barcelona.

The sanction relates solely to the objects thrown during the late stages of the match and the resulting disruption to order inside the stadium.
