Espanyol have appointed Eder Sarabia as their new first-team head coach, replacing Manolo Gonzalez after a run of poor results.
The Catalan club confirmed Sarabia’s arrival in an official statement and said he had signed a contract until 30 June 2028.
Sarabia will take charge of Espanyol for the remainder of the season, with his first match coming against Villarreal on Friday in the 11th round of the Spanish league.
Espanyol also confirmed that Jon Lopez, Jon Moreno, Aitor Unzue and Alvaro Gonzalez will join Sarabia’s new coaching staff.
The 40-year-old will be formally presented to the media on Tuesday in the Juan Segura Palomares room at the club.
Manolo Gonzalez has left his position after Espanyol’s poor start to the campaign. The club are 18th in the table with eight points from two wins, two draws and six defeats.
Sarabia’s first task will be to improve Espanyol’s results when they host Villarreal on Friday.
