Badou Zaki’s Jordan appointment to be formalised after family-related delay

The Jordan Football Association will formally present Moroccan coach Badou Zaki as the new head coach of the Jordan national team at a news conference on Thursday, after his introduction was postponed because of urgent family circumstances.

The event will be held at the association’s headquarters and is scheduled to begin at 12:00 local time. Representatives of accredited media organisations have been invited to attend as Zaki officially starts his work with the national side, known as Al-Nashama.

The Jordan Football Association said the conference would also outline the direction of the next phase under Zaki and discuss the team’s plans for the competitions and commitments ahead.

Zaki’s appointment had already been confirmed by the association. He has agreed to take charge of the Jordan national team for an initial one-year period, with the possibility of extending the contract if both parties approve a renewal.

His arrival forms part of Jordan’s preparations for upcoming international commitments, with the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia identified as the principal target on the schedule.

The formal presentation was originally expected to take place earlier. However, urgent family circumstances prevented Zaki from travelling to Jordan at the agreed time, forcing the association to delay the event.

A new date has now been set, allowing the Jordan Football Association to present the Moroccan coach and officially mark the beginning of his tenure with the national team.

Thursday’s conference will therefore serve both as Zaki’s public introduction and as the first formal opportunity to set out the plans for his one-year contract. The association is expected to use the occasion to explain the priorities surrounding the national team as it prepares for its next challenges and the Asian Cup finals.

The process is intended to move the appointment into its official working phase following the earlier delay. Zaki’s presentation will take place in front of accredited media representatives at the association’s headquarters, with the focus on the coach’s role and Jordan’s preparations for the period ahead.
