Anis Hadj Moussa continued his impressive run of form in the Netherlands by scoring a superb goal for Feyenoord, although his side suffered a 5-3 defeat by Heerenveen on the 12th matchday of the Dutch league.
The Algeria international was one of Feyenoord’s standout performers, producing a moment of individual quality during an otherwise disappointing result for the Rotterdam club.
Hadj Moussa received the ball with confidence and repeatedly demonstrated his ability to operate in tight areas. After moving through the Heerenveen defence, the 24-year-old completed the move with a precise, curling left-footed shot which gave the goalkeeper no chance.
His contribution was not enough to prevent Feyenoord from surrendering control of the match. The club made a strong start, opening the scoring and establishing a two-goal advantage, but gradually allowed Heerenveen back into the contest before eventually losing 5-3.
Despite the defeat, Feyenoord remain provisionally top of the table. However, Ajax, PSV and Twente are still close enough to challenge for first place, leaving the club with little margin for error in the battle at the top of the standings.
For Hadj Moussa, the display provided further evidence of his growing importance to Feyenoord. His performances in the Netherlands continue to raise expectations around his future, both at club level and with the Algeria national team.
The winger is under contract with Feyenoord until 30 June 2030 and is currently valued at 28 million euros by Transfermarkt.
