Napoli target Monaco midfield duo ahead of January transfer window

Napoli are assessing their midfield options ahead of the winter transfer window, with AS Monaco pair Lamine Camara and Mamadou Coulibaly among the players being considered.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Italian club are exploring several targets as they look to strengthen an area of the team that could undergo significant change. Napoli are currently eighth in Serie A and 27th in the league phase of the Champions League.

The Partenopei are reportedly planning to recruit two midfielders. Stanislav Lobotka and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa are both approaching the final year of their contracts, with their futures at the club uncertain. Kevin De Bruyne is also in the same situation, increasing the need for Napoli’s hierarchy to plan for a possible reshaping of the midfield.

Napoli’s interest in Coulibaly is not new, with the club having monitored the 20-year-old for several months. Camara has now emerged as another potential target for the January market.

Coulibaly is under contract with AS Monaco until 2028 and is valued at 20 million euros by Transfermarkt. Camara’s agreement with the Principality club runs until 2029, while his estimated valuation stands at 55 million euros.

That figure means Napoli would need to make a convincing proposal if they are to sign the Senegal international. Camara’s contract length also leaves AS Monaco in a strong negotiating position should the Italian side make a formal approach.

Napoli’s next fixture will be against Torino in the 12th round of the Italian championship.
