Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana remains steadfast in his conviction that joining Manchester United was the right decision, despite enduring a challenging debut season in England. Speaking candidly to his team’s TV channel, Onana addressed his experiences and expressed his unwavering commitment to the club.
With 12 clean sheets to his name this season, Onana has faced formidable opposition, conceding a total of 81 goals across all competitions.
Despite these setbacks, the former Ajax Amsterdam player stands firm in his belief that Manchester United represents the pinnacle of football excellence.
Reflecting on his journey, Onana remarked, “When I look back now, I smile because it was a big lesson for me.
But at first, I was like, ‘Wow, did I make the right choice?’ But I’m 100% sure I made the right choice because Manchester United is the biggest club in this country, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Who would say no to come and play in this beautiful club?”
Despite the team’s struggles, Onana remains resolute in his determination to salvage the season, identifying the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City as a pivotal opportunity for redemption.
“I know them, they are all winners, everyone wants to win,” Onana asserted. “Before the season, we talked about fighting for every title.
There are things that happen in life, and you have to manage the situation. We have a great final to play and a few more games to play, so we’re going to go for it.”
The FA Cup final, scheduled for May 25 at Wembley, presents Manchester United with a chance to clinch silverware and end the season on a high note.
Despite the challenges he has faced, Onana remains steadfast in his commitment to the club’s success.
Acquired for a record fee of 55 million euros, Onana’s journey from Ajax Amsterdam to Manchester United has been marked by both triumphs and tribulations.
Despite enduring one of the toughest seasons of his career, Onana’s unwavering dedication to the club’s cause underscores his resilience and determination to succeed on football’s grandest stage.
