Al-Ittihad send defender Stefan Kler to Belgium for remainder of season

Al-Ittihad have approved a request from Belgian club Beveren to sign defender Stefan Kler on loan until the end of the current season.

The Saudi club announced the decision on its official account on X, confirming that Kler will leave the “Tigers” temporarily to begin a new spell in Belgian football.

The move is intended to give the player a greater opportunity to play regularly and continue his development away from Al-Ittihad. The club believes a change of environment could provide Kler with more minutes on the pitch and valuable experience during the remainder of the campaign.

Kler is expected to remain with Beveren until the season concludes. Under the current arrangement, he will then return to Al-Ittihad, unless further developments lead to a change in his future.

Al-Ittihad also offered their support to the defender before his departure, wishing him success during his time with the Belgian club. The Saudi side said the experience could help Kler improve his level and return with additional experience.

The loan forms part of Al-Ittihad’s wider efforts to manage their squad during a season in which the club faces strong competition. The club’s plans include strengthening the team with new players while also allowing some members of the squad to pursue opportunities elsewhere that may aid their progress.

For Kler, the agreement marks the beginning of a new chapter away from Al-Ittihad. He has received the club’s permission to join Beveren for the rest of the season, with the move designed to give him the chance to develop and establish himself more prominently.

Al-Ittihad’s decision follows the request made by Beveren for the temporary signing, rather than a permanent departure. Kler will therefore continue to be associated with the Saudi club while he gains experience in Belgium.

The defender’s next period with Beveren will provide him with the opportunity to compete in a different football setting and seek more consistent playing time. Al-Ittihad will monitor the outcome of the spell before determining whether any further decision is required regarding his future.

The club’s statement makes clear that the immediate agreement runs only until the end of the current season. Unless new circumstances arise, Kler will return to Al-Ittihad once the loan period expires.
