Wadi Degla manager Mostafa Shbeita says his side are aiming to go as far as possible in the Egypt Capital Cup after beating Zamalek 1-0.
The victory came at New Suez Stadium in the second round of the competition, giving Wadi Degla six points from their opening two matches.
“Thank God, we achieved an important victory over Zamalek,” Shbeita told On Sport Max. “The Capital Cup is an important competition for us and we want to go as far as possible.”
Shbeita also praised goalkeeper Mohamed Abu Gresha, who has impressed during training over an extended period.
“Mohamed Abu Gresha has been outstanding in training for a long time and I expect him to become one of the best goalkeepers in Egypt in the future,” he said.
The Wadi Degla manager said the match had also provided valuable experience for the club’s younger players, while allowing those who had missed recent games to regain match fitness.
“We came out of the match having given our young players the chance to gain experience so they can become accustomed to competitive games,” Shbeita added.
“At Wadi Degla, we focus on our youth academy and we have many talented players. We were also aiming to prepare those who had been absent from the previous matches.”
Shbeita acknowledged the significance of overcoming Zamalek, regardless of the team selected by their opponents.
“Zamalek are still Zamalek, whether they play with the first team or the youth players,” he said.
