Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has been named among the 26 finalists for the 2026 FIFPRO Men’s World 11, putting the Paris Saint-Germain defender in contention for another place in the prestigious team of the year.

The right-back earned his nomination following another impressive campaign with PSG, where he remained an influential member of Luis Enrique’s squad during the club’s domestic and European campaigns.

Hakimi’s inclusion further underlines his status among the leading defenders in world football, having combined his defensive responsibilities with significant contributions in attack.

Hakimi targets third World 11 appearance

The nomination gives the Moroccan another opportunity to feature in the FIFPRO Men’s World 11 after previously making the final selection in 2022 and 2025.

In last year’s edition, Hakimi was selected alongside his PSG teammate Nuno Mendes and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk in the three-man defensive line.

His inclusion in the 2022 team followed Morocco’s historic run to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The latest recognition also comes after Hakimi was named African Player of the Year in 2025, further strengthening his position among the continent’s leading footballers.

FIFPRO shortlist decided by professional players

The FIFPRO World 11 is the only global football award decided exclusively through votes from professional footballers.

For the 2026 men’s edition, players were assessed on their performances between 4 August 2025 and 19 July 2026.

To qualify for consideration, candidates needed to have featured in at least 30 official matches during the assessment period.

The final team will consist of one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards, with the remaining position going to the highest-ranked outfield player who has not already been selected.

FIFPRO is scheduled to announce the final 11 on 9 November through its official digital platforms.

Chebbak represents Morocco in women’s shortlist

Morocco also has representation in the women’s category, with international midfielder Ghizlane Chebbak included among the 26 finalists for the 2026 FIFPRO Women’s World 11.

The nominations give Moroccan football representation in both categories, with Hakimi and Chebbak in contention for places among the world’s top players.
