Kobbie Mainoo has called on Manchester United’s players to support manager Michael Carrick as they prepare to face Roma in the Champions League.
Manchester United meet the Italian side at 22:00 on Tuesday in the fourth round of the competition.
Speaking at a news conference, England midfielder Mainoo said: “The only way to repay Michael Carrick is to stand behind him on and off the pitch, and fight as one team.”
Mainoo acknowledged the frustration among supporters during a difficult period for the club, with United struggling to produce the required results.
“In these difficult times, you cannot expect the fans to be 100% happy when we are not achieving the results we need,” he added. “We owe it to them to deliver better results.”
Manchester United are 21st in the Champions League standings with three points, level with several other teams.
Domestically, United sit 17th in the Premier League with seven points and are separated from the relegation places by goal difference.
