Excitement is growing ahead of the 186th meeting between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, with the latest chapter of the Soweto derby taking place at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The sold-out Soccer City will host a contest carrying more than the prospect of three points. The traditional rivals will also be competing for local bragging rights in one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures on the South African football calendar.
The match is the focus of the 128th episode of the Arena Sports Show, presented by Clauiee Grace Mpanza and Mahlatse Mphahlele. The programme features supporters from both clubs as they assess their teams’ prospects before the derby.
Bongani “Chairman” Ngcobo represents Orlando Pirates, while Tyhila “China” Phahlane provides the Kaizer Chiefs perspective. Both supporters are confident that their respective sides can claim victory when the teams meet in front of the full stadium on Saturday.
The preview continues in its second segment with former Super Eagles, Chippa United and Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi. He discusses the pressure involved in playing in the Soweto derby and the demands placed on those involved in the fixture.
