Mamelodi Sundowns and USM Alger will battle for continental supremacy when they meet in the CAF Super Cup on Sunday, November 8, at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa.

The encounter will bring together two sides who enjoyed successful campaigns in CAF’s major club competitions last season, with both eager to add another continental trophy to their respective collections.

Mamelodi Sundowns secured their place in the prestigious fixture after being crowned CAF Champions League winners, earning an opportunity to claim another major honour in front of their home supporters.

The South African giants will be particularly motivated to deliver a strong performance after suffering an early exit from the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, where they were eliminated in the second preliminary round.

The Brazilians will therefore view the Super Cup as an opportunity to respond to that disappointment and reaffirm their status among Africa’s leading clubs.

However, USM Alger will present a difficult challenge, having qualified for the encounter through their triumph in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Algerian outfit will travel to Pretoria with ambitions of securing another continental title and further strengthening their reputation in African club football.

With both teams coming into the contest as champions of their respective CAF competitions, the Super Cup promises an intriguing battle between two clubs determined to establish their superiority.

For Sundowns, victory would provide a welcome boost after their Champions League disappointment, while USM Alger will be hoping to cap their continental success with another prestigious trophy.

The November 8 showdown in Pretoria will consequently determine which of the two champions begins the new continental season with silverware.
