Morocco legend Mustapha Hadji warns Brahim Diaz over limited Real Madrid playing time
Moroccan football legend Mustapha Hadji has advised Brahim Diaz to consider leaving Real Madrid for the Saudi Pro League to secure more playing time and maintain his place in the Morocco national team.
Hadji made the recommendation in an exclusive interview with Kooora, arguing that Diaz’s limited involvement at the Spanish giants could affect his international prospects.
The Morocco international has struggled for regular minutes this season, featuring for only 210 minutes across six matches in all competitions.
Despite making an impact when given opportunities, including providing two assists in the Champions League, competition for attacking positions at Real Madrid has made it difficult for Diaz to establish himself as a regular starter.
Hadji urges Diaz to consider Saudi Arabia move
Hadji believes a move to Saudi Arabia could provide Diaz with the regular football he needs to maintain his standing in the national team.
“He plays for the biggest club in the world, but honestly I advise him to leave for the Saudi league if there is an offer.”
The former Morocco international, who previously played professionally in the English Premier League, also praised the standard of competition in Saudi Arabia.
“I am a good follower of the Roshan League, and the competition there witnesses the participation of professionals at the highest level, and the competition is difficult”.
Reports have indicated that the Saudi Football Federation is seriously considering a move for Diaz during the January transfer window, with a substantial offer reportedly being prepared.
However, no agreement has been confirmed, and the Moroccan forward’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain.
Limited playing time raises Morocco concerns
Hadji also expressed concern that Diaz’s lack of regular football at club level could affect his chances of representing Morocco.
The former international believes the attacking midfielder needs to play more consistently to strengthen his case for selection by Morocco coach Mohamed Wehbe.
“Diaz only plays for Real Madrid for a few minutes, so it will be difficult to call him up to the Moroccan national team, because he does not deserve to play internationally in light of this situation.”
Diaz’s situation presents a potential challenge for Morocco, with the player needing more opportunities at club level to maintain his international prospects.
Moroccan legend calls for regular football
Hadji concluded by encouraging Diaz to consider a move that would allow him to play a more prominent role, whether in Saudi Arabia or another league.
“I hope he moves to a big club in Saudi Arabia or in any other league, so that the opportunity is available to play more than an hour in each match
The advice places the spotlight on Diaz’s immediate future at Real Madrid, where his limited playing time has prompted questions about whether a change of club could benefit both his career and his international ambitions.
