Al Ahly join African Club Association after talks with Hersi Said

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have joined the African Club Association (ACA), strengthening the organisation’s efforts to represent the interests of clubs across the continent.

The Cairo-based club’s membership follows initial challenges surrounding their decision to join the association, with ACA chairman Eng. Hersi Said playing a key role in securing their agreement.

Al Ahly’s decision is regarded as an important development for the ACA, which seeks to provide African clubs with a stronger collective voice on issues affecting the game.

The Egyptian side are among the most successful clubs in African football, having won a record number of CAF Champions League titles and established themselves as a dominant force in continental competitions.

Their inclusion is expected to strengthen the association’s influence as it works to improve the conditions under which clubs operate and create a more sustainable environment for African football.

The ACA provides a platform for clubs to collaborate, exchange ideas and address common challenges, including commercial development, financial sustainability and the overall growth of the game.

Al Ahly’s involvement could also create opportunities for greater cooperation between clubs and help advance discussions on how African football can maximise its commercial potential.

Said’s efforts to bring the Egyptian powerhouse on board underline the association’s ambition to expand its membership and build a united front among clubs from different leagues and footballing backgrounds.

As part of his engagement with the Egyptian club, Said is also expected to attend Al Ahly’s league fixture against Modern Sport on Thursday evening.

His presence at the match comes as the ACA seeks to deepen its relationship with one of Africa’s most prominent football institutions.

Al Ahly’s membership marks a significant step in the association’s efforts to bring leading clubs together to pursue shared interests and contribute to the long-term development of African football.
