Mohamed Abdel Nasser confirms five-year move to Al Ahly from January

Arab Contractors midfielder Mohamed Abdel Nasser has confirmed he will join Al Ahly at the start of January on a five-season contract.

Abdel Nasser made the announcement after Arab Contractors were beaten 2-1 by Zamalek in the eighth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Speaking to ON Sport about the reported move, Abdel Nasser said: “I will officially move to Al Ahly for five seasons, starting next January.”

The player also reflected on Arab Contractors’ defeat, saying his side had been aiming to take all three points but had been unable to turn their chances into a positive result.

“We were looking to secure the three points, but we were not lucky,” he said. “Praise be to God for everything.”

Abdel Nasser scored Arab Contractors’ equaliser in the 56th minute, sending a powerful shot towards goal which struck Omar Gaber before finding the net past Zamalek goalkeeper Mehdi Soliman.

Zamalek eventually secured victory and moved on to 19 points, taking second place in the table temporarily. Arab Contractors remain on 11 points in seventh.

Abdel Nasser said the team had been spoken to by Sami Komsan after the match, with the coach reminding the players of their qualities despite the result.

“Sami Komsan spoke to us and stressed that we are top players, but conceding the first goal affected us a little,” he said.

He added that Arab Contractors needed to maintain their concentration as they prepare for their next fixtures, and suggested the international break could provide a useful opportunity to regroup.

“We need to focus on the matches ahead, and I think the international break will help us to some extent,” Abdel Nasser said.

Zamalek’s next league game will be against El Gouna on 23 November.
