Al Hilal demand equal treatment after Al Nassr’s Asian match is postponed

Al Hilal are unhappy with the Asian Football Confederation’s decision to postpone Al Nassr’s match against Al Wasl, according to sources speaking to Kooora.

The AFC had been due to stage the fixture on Monday evening in the third round of the AFC Champions League Elite, but postponed it because of logistical considerations and the current developments in the region.

A source inside Al Hilal told Kooora that the club’s management believes the AFC has taken an inconsistent approach by allowing Al Nassr’s match to be delayed.

Al Hilal had previously contacted the continental governing body to request that their own fixture against Al Sadd be postponed because of the circumstances affecting the region.

That request was rejected, the source said, with Al Hilal instead told that they had to travel by land. The club was also informed that, if it did not comply, its withdrawal from the competition would be endorsed.

The decision has left Al Hilal’s management frustrated, particularly because their match against Al Sadd went ahead in the previous round despite the same regional concerns.

The club wants the principle of equal treatment to be applied to all teams, especially as it competes for every available trophy.

Al Hilal beat Al Sadd 2-0 in Qatar and currently lead the AFC Champions League Elite standings with six points after winning their opening two matches.
