Uli Hoeness, honorary president of Bayern Munich, believes Michael Olise is on course to become the best player in the world and is already a better footballer than Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal.
Speaking to Welt am Sonntag, Hoeness said: “Michael Olise is on his way to becoming the best player in the world. For me, he is better than Lamine Yamal.”
Hoeness praised the qualities of the 24-year-old France international, describing him as an almost complete footballer.
“He scores goals, creates them and is fast… he is practically the perfect player,” he added.
Olise has established himself as a key attacking figure since joining Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace. Yamal, meanwhile, has become an important part of Barcelona’s team under manager Hansi Flick.
The 19-year-old Spain international is also among the leading candidates for the Ballon d’Or, adding weight to the comparison between two of Europe’s most highly regarded attacking talents.
Yamal will face Real Madrid later on Sunday, 25 October 2026, when Barcelona play in La Liga. The fixture gives the Barcelona winger an immediate opportunity to make his case on the pitch as debate continues over the leading young forwards in European football.
Hoeness’ comments come before the latest edition of El Clasico, with Yamal’s performance likely to draw particular attention after the public endorsement of his Bayern Munich rival.
