Bournemouth expose Manchester United’s crisis with 3-0 win at Old Trafford

Bournemouth deepened Manchester United’s troubles with a 3-0 victory at Old Trafford in the eighth round of the Premier League on Sunday, leaving Michael Carrick’s position under increasing scrutiny.

Ryan gave the visitors the lead in the 38th minute, heading home after Justin Kluivert’s free-kick delivery. Marcus Tavernier then doubled Bournemouth’s advantage five minutes before half-time, taking advantage of a defensive mistake.

Evanilson completed the scoring in the 71st minute as Bournemouth secured a convincing victory and inflicted another damaging result on Manchester United.

The win lifted Bournemouth to nine points and 13th place in the table. Manchester United remain on seven points in 16th, close to the bottom of the standings after another disappointing performance.

The result extended Manchester United’s run without a victory to eight matches in all competitions. Their last win came against Sabah of Azerbaijan in the Champions League, when they recorded a 4-0 success.

Bournemouth’s opening goal came from a set-piece situation, with Ryan finishing the move created by Kluivert’s cross from a free-kick. Tavernier’s strike followed after Manchester United failed to deal with the danger inside their defence.

With Manchester United’s decline continuing and the club edging closer to the bottom of the Premier League table, the future of manager Michael Carrick has been placed under growing uncertainty.
