Ousmane Dembele faces three weeks out with PSG after Barcelona injury

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele is expected to spend around three weeks on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury during the Champions League victory over Barcelona.

The 29-year-old was forced off in the first half of PSG’s 4-2 win at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday after experiencing discomfort in his left thigh. Medical examinations subsequently ruled out a more serious injury, although the France international will require several weeks of treatment and recovery.

According to Le Parisien, Dembélé could miss approximately three weeks, potentially ruling him out of four upcoming fixtures.

The forward is expected to miss the Ligue 1 encounter against Lyon and the Champions League trip to Villarreal on November 3, alongside other domestic commitments during his recovery period.

His absence represents another setback for head coach Luis Enrique, particularly with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also facing a lengthy spell out after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Dembélé’s injury could also affect his availability for France’s November international fixtures.

France are scheduled to face Italy on November 12 before taking on Turkey on November 15 in the Nations League. With the estimated recovery period extending into the international break, the forward’s participation is now in serious doubt.

France coach Zinedine Zidane is expected to announce his squad on November 6, leaving limited time for Dembélé to demonstrate that he is ready to return.

PSG are likely to take a cautious approach to his rehabilitation rather than risk an early comeback that could aggravate the injury.

Although the initial medical findings have provided some reassurance, Dembélé’s return will depend on his progress over the coming weeks. A comeback after the international break remains a possibility, but no definitive date has been confirmed.
