Palmeiras reached the Copa Libertadores final for a second consecutive year after beating Fluminense 5-3 on penalties, despite losing 1-0 in the semi-final second leg.

Hercules scored the only goal of the match for Fluminense in the 82nd minute, drawing the tie level at 2-2 on aggregate and forcing a shootout.

Palmeiras held their nerve from the spot to secure their place in the final, continuing their bid to retain the Copa Libertadores title.

They will face either Flamengo or Estudiantes de La Plata in the final. Their semi-final remains undecided after the first leg ended in a goalless draw.
