Victor Osimhen says he is “one of the best strikers in the world” after scoring in Galatasaray’s 4-2 victory over Lille in the third round of the Champions League.
The Nigeria international completed Galatasaray’s scoring against the French side, for whom he previously played, as the Turkish club secured their first points of the competition.
“We played a great match against Lille and were ready from the beginning,” Osimhen told reporters. “From now on, we want to approach each game individually and win all our matches.”
Galatasaray will also face Paris Saint-Germain in the competition, but Osimhen said the team must be prepared for the demands of every Champions League fixture.
“We also have a big match against Paris Saint-Germain ahead of us, but every Champions League game is always difficult,” he added.
The striker is also relishing Galatasaray’s upcoming derby against Fenerbahce, describing it as a fixture likely to be charged with emotion and intensity.
“Fenerbahce derby? Of course, we are talking about a match full of emotion and excitement, and it could also involve some chaos,” said Osimhen. “We are eagerly waiting for this derby.”
Osimhen responded firmly when asked about criticism of his ability, saying he did not need advice on how to control the ball or score goals.
“No-one can teach me how to deal with the ball or how to score goals, because I am one of the best strikers in the world,” he said. “I do not concern myself with comments of this kind.”
The result left Galatasaray with three points, while Lille remain without a point.
