Cairo will host an event promoting the Turkish city of Trabzon and exploring new opportunities for cooperation between Egypt and Turkiye, with Mohamed Salah’s presence at Trabzonspor credited as a key factor.
The Egyptian forward’s move to Trabzonspor has strengthened links between Egypt and the city, according to a report by Turkish website 61saat.
Initiatives aimed at expanding tourism and trade between the two countries have gathered pace since Salah arrived in Trabzon. Comprehensive, high-level reports are being prepared to present Egyptian businesses with the commercial opportunities available in the city.
A senior meeting in Turkiye discussed the planned event, its promotional activities and potential areas of cooperation with Egyptian tourism professionals and business leaders.
The event will take place in Cairo from 4 to 7 November. It will also include important messages relating to Mohamed Salah.
Its significance has been underlined by the number of Egyptian visitors travelling to Trabzon. The report says 5,000 tourists came from Egypt to the city this year specifically because of Salah.
Growing interest in the places the Egypt captain has visited in Trabzon could also lead to the creation of planned visitor routes based around his future movements in the city.
