Saka injury concern grows after early exit in Arsenal’s draw with Bayern Munich

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says the club’s medical staff are “a little concerned” about Bukayo Saka after the England forward was forced off injured during Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich.

Saka left the field only a few minutes after the start of the Champions League league-phase match, played on matchday three. His early departure was a significant setback for Arsenal and has prompted concern over the seriousness of the problem.

As he walked off, Saka briefly spoke to Arteta and appeared to point towards his thigh. The 24-year-old was later seen limping as he left the Allianz Arena.

“Having to come off because of very sharp pain is never good news, but we have to wait and see what happens,” Arteta told reporters after the match, according to The Sun.

The Arsenal manager added: “They [the medical staff] are a little concerned.”

Exclusive footage filmed by The Sun showed Saka leaving the stadium unaided. Although he appeared saddened by the injury, he was able to walk without support or crutches.

Arsenal drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich in a match which saw Saka’s involvement end almost immediately, leaving the club waiting for further assessment before the full extent of the injury becomes clear.
